Custom Backrest

I had made a backrest for my Libre from two pushbike handlebar stems & a piece of steel tube.

It wasn't pretty, but it was functional.

Richard came up with something all together different.

The basic concept was for the backrest to follow the curve of my back

and be low enough to just offer a little support, without getting in the way.

Richard started off with a straight piece of Stainless tube.....

and started to bend it through a pipe bender.

After quite a few passes we had the curve we wanted.

Next he fabricated some brackets to clamp to the siderails of the Libre.

Rich couldn't resist adding a bit of shine to the backrest.

Once the brackets were in place, the backrest was welded on.

Lookin good.

I need to test it out on a beach soon, just to see if it needs any padding.

I'm well chuffed with what Richard has done for me.
